Veritatis Splendor-Splendor of the Truth

Addressed to the Bishops, this encyclical reflects on the Church’s moral teaching and recalls fundamental truths of doctrine presently at risk of distortion. The Pope says there is no debate about moral theological teaching because the decision is left to the discernment and teaching of the Magisterium. Freedom and the Law, conscience and the Truth, morality and obedience, and the responsiblities of the bishops to teach the need for a new evangelization are called for to stem the tide of dechristianization.
